        Hi Aoife,

In FeS there are 2 elements: Iron (Fe) and Sulphur (S).

        Hi Aoife,

Iron(II) sulphide (FeS) contains atoms from two elements: one atom of Iron (Fe) and one atom of sulphur (S).

Iron sulphide is quite a cool compound – you can find out quite a lot about it from wikipedia:
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron(II)_sulfide

Whats interesting is that when iron sulphide is found in nature, it forms minerals. The most basic one is troilite (which is pale brown). Whats cool is when it forms minerals, sometimes the minerals are missing some of the iron and it forms minerals like Pyrrhotite and Pyrite. Pyrite is shiny and golden (sometime called fools gold)

Hope this helps – let me know if you want to know more!

Iron and Sulfur! FeS actually has a really interesting crystal structure called pyrite (if you think that crystal structures are cool!)
