• Question: when did you decide you wanted to become a scientest

        Hey there!

        I decided that I wanted to be a scientist when I was 12! The reason I decided then was because I really loved science in school and CSI was quite popular so I wanted to do something with chemistry and forensic science. Years later I have studied chemistry and forensic science! I couldn’t be happier!

        I decided I wanted to become a scientist when I was in college. I knew that I wanted to do something related to science, maybe like engineering or something since I was little but I knew I wanted to be a research scientist from about the age of 19 or 20.

        Hi Aoibhinn

        sorry for the late reply – I’ve been having some problems with the website 🙁

        I wanted to be a scientist or a doctor from when i was about 7 or 8. My grandad and dad were my inspirations i think. My granddad used to take apart motorcycles and model planes and explain how they worked – he was always asking questions about how the world worked!

        My dad was the same. My mom used to work on saturdays so my dad would look after me whilst she was at the shop. Apparently i used to ask endless questions (why is the sky blue? why is the grass green? why do i get dizzy when i spin around too much?) and so we’d look in books together to try and find the answers – when my mom came home i used to explain to her what we’d found out. We called it “project time”. I know it sounds super geeky – i guess it is a bit, i don’t think id earn many cool points for telling that story, but i used to love finding stuff out – and its kinda stuck with me ever since.
