        I do believe in the theory of the big bang, that’s why I’m so interested in particle physics experiments, like the one at CERN, which work to try and recreate the conditions right after the big bang so that we can understand it better! If you are interested in it I really recommend a movie called Particle Feaver, it’s all about the discoveries happening at these experiments and is really interesting, maybe you could convince your teacher to let you watch it in science class some time!

        Hello!

        Why yes I do! There is a lot of evidence to suggest that it did happen for example:
        1. The universe is expanding, proven with something called red shift.
        2. Cosmic microwave background radiation exists.
        3. There is an abundance of different elements in the universe (much of what we see on earth).
        So I think it did happen, but as Aoife mentioned the conditions for the big bang to happen are still unknown.. but science will eventually lead us to the answer!

        Also the show is pretty awesome too! 😉

        Do you believe in it?

        Louise =)

        Hi Ben

        I sure do! the big bang is a pretty good theory – we know the universe is expanding by looking at stars! as we know its still going outwards – it must have started from a point!

        We can also see the left over radiation from a huge explosion – called the microwave background – its like the smoke from a gun!

        But we don’t know for sure – but no other theory can explain what we see!

        what caused the big bang … now thats another question 🙂

        hope that answered your question!
